Within Cardea is a bulletin board (BB), or a system by which players can leave permanent postings for everyone with access to given boards to read. Every city has a BB which only citizens can read; every guild has a BB which only members can read; every order has a BB which only order members can read, and so on. The structure of the truly public boards, to which every player has access, is as follows:

• Public: The public bulletin board is for messages pertaining to the entire realm. The public BB should be used for in character purposes.
• News: The news bulletin board is for news items that all mortals need to know. Only admin can post here. You will occasionally see reminders telling you to read the latest News BB, as the information posted on this board is always important, if not vital to your experience in the game.
• Ooc: The OOC bulletin board is for Out Of Character postings. All matters that need be discussed outside of roleplay should be addressed here. Here, and ONLY here, is where you may post without remaining in role.
• Plot: The plot bulletin board is for stories related to ongoing plot. No one can post here but the gods whose realm contains history and mythology.

To read the bulletin board, you have two options. One is to enter the bulletin board system by typing "BB". This physically moves your character into the bulletin board system, where you will be unable to do anything but issue bulletin board commands, and no one will be able to contact you. It does appear on the WHO list that you are in the BB, so that people know why you are unable to communicate. When you return from the BB, you return to the location in which you entered the BB.

Once you are in the BB, the commands are as follows:

CLS: Clears the screen.
HELP: Displays help and tips on using the BB system.
LATEST: Displays the latest post in your current section.
MENU: Dispays the menu screen, which details the BB commands.
NEXT: Displays the next post in your currently selected section. I.e., it will display the post after the one you have just finished reading.
POST: Enables you to write and post a new post in your currently selected section, providing you have posting access to the section.
PREVIOUS: Displays the previous post in the currently selected section. I.e., it will display the post before the one you have just finished reading.
QUIT: Returns you to the world of Cardea.
READ <BB number>: Displays the specified post in the currently selected section, or simply displays the current post.
STATUS: Displays current BB status. Shows all available areas and your current (most recently read) post in each. In addition, it also shows your current BB section.

The second method of reading the BB is to read a bulletin board post outside the BB system. You can type "section <section name>" to page to the desired section, and "readbb <number>". (For example, "section Dante", "readbb 100".)

There are a few guidelines to posting on the Cardean BB system, and they are as follows:

1. No bad language. This is fairly straightforward. You cannot use foul or objectionable language on the Cardea BB, for a very good reason. Cardea is a roleplaying game with a high fantasy-type atmosphere. Mundane cursing detracts from this atmosphere. It is up to the gods to determine--at their own will--what constitutes bad language, and how to deal with the offender. Most likely, your first offence will warrant a warning. Repeated offences will warrant deletion of posts and removal of your ability to use the BB system.
2. Please turn your triggers and parsing off. This means, quite simply, disable your MU* client's triggers and parsing for the duration of your BB use. If you do not, you will find that your posts frequently set off aliases, causing your commands to be written into posts and rendering your posts virtually unreadable. Also, certain phrases may cause a trigger to go off, with a similar effect.
3. OOC posts belong in the OOC board. Don't post out of character anywhere else. Period.
