The History of Fistanditilus

Rain pours relentlessly in the slick city streets as Fistanditilus finds his way through Maine with ease after a long day's travel. Traveling through Governor's Square, he arrives at his destination. A large sign hands above the door which clearly reads "The Dockers Fist". The sea breeze calmly blows across his skin as he enters the rugged looking bar.

As he steps into the room, travellers fill the place with talk of their day's adventures. Fistanditilus walks calmly over to a deserted table. He slips his soaked cloak off as he takes a seat at the table, which is still warm from its previous occupant.

One of the barmaids quickly spots Fistanditilus and suddenly hurries her way over to him.

"What'll it be today, Sir?", she asks in a joyous voice.

Calmly Fistanditilus responds, "Your finest Wine, my dear". She hurriedly walks away, taking his order to the hunchback barman. Fistanditilus takes a parchment scroll from within his robe reads the words over and over. He studies the words until they burn themselves into his mind. In no time at all, the barmaid returns with his glass of wine and sets it on the table in front of him. He pays her and she promptly returns to her business.

A young boy who has heard many things about travellers and their stories notices this curious sight: a man sitting alone reading an odd looking scroll with mysterious symbols upon it. The boy becomes very interested in what the man is reading, and approaches him.

"Excuse me, M'Lord, might I ask what you are reading?", the boy asks with great curiosity. The boy is wearing a grey faded tunic along with a ripped pair of trousers.

"Tis just a letter from a friend, who was supposed to meet me here but, unfortunately is going to be rather late," Fistandtilus explains.

"Hmm", the boy says with a nod. "Could you possibly tell me a story of one of your adventures, while you wait for your friend?", the boy says with a look of interest.

"How 'bout I tell you of my past, that should make for an interesting tale," Fistanditilus says, smilling softly.

"Ok!" replies the boy, as his eyes light up in anticipation of the amusement to come.

"Hmm, where should I begin?", Fistanditilus asks rhetorically.

"When I was but a young lad, magic was my passion and learning came quickly to me. I began studying the arcane forces of Cardea, taking my time to learn as much as possible about this realm and its past. Through my studies one specific facet of the land intrigued me most, and became a driving force in my existence. A Scholarly Mage I may have been, but Darkness was my field of study. The Darkness I studied eventually penetrated my soul, and I found comfort within the Night. At one point in my blackened state, the evil I had found betrayed me and from then onward, I resolved seek my rightful place in the realm.

The path I eventually chose had three faces. Each face had a name and each face consisted of a greater part of the whole. Lady Dante, Goddess of Fate opened her arms to me and joy filled my soul, as my faith grew to please and move her. She bestowed upon me the position of her Shop Proprietor and Scholar; thus I have begun a grand book all about the history of the Threefold Goddess.

On one Spring day, I met a rather charming beauty that goes by the name of Ban Draoi Orina. My love for her grew stronger; lust had seeped into my heart. I enjoyed her calm laugh and beautiful face, which allowed for much caring and compassion between us. It would seem that no one would be able to break what Fate had bestowed upon us. Eventually we where wed in the sacred bonds of marriage and have vowed to stay with each other through both hardships and good times. She has taken over as the driving force in my life, and will be for years to come.

When I moved to the city of Maine, I enjoyed the fact that it was Freedom the citizens upheld and that everyone had a mutual respect for each other. Eventually, I began to have an interest in city politics and ran for the position of Statesman. It was a great day when I won the election for the prestigious position, and it bestowed upon me a stronger sense of city pride. To the present, I am responsible for running the city's diplomatic core and making sure our efforts go according to plan.

Very recently the Guildmaster of the Mages decided that it was time to retire, and continue what he had always wanted to do since joining the guild: to attain knowledge and learn the magics of Cardea. He has bestowed the position of Guildmaster upon me and now I lead the Guild as he once did. I seek to guide young ones interested in the arcane arts, and to help them define their path within the realm."

Smiling at the boy, Fistanditilus says, "...and that concludes the story of my life."

Suddenly, a beautiful woman wearing a deer skin cloak and an amulet shaped in the form of a spider enters the bar, removing her cloak and shaking it dry. She notices the person she has come to see, sitting at a table across from a curious young boy. Slowly she walks up to them and says,

"Greetings Fistanditilus, am I interrupting anything?", with a quick smile. Fistanditilus shakes his head.

"No we were just finishing up, thank you my dear." Fistanditilus grins at the boy, "It would seem my friend has arrived, would you please excuse us?"

The boy nods and responds, "Thank you kindly for your tale--it was most entertaining! Do be well M'Lord."

Fistanditilus gives the boy a clap on the back and exclaims, "You're quite welcome!" as he watches the boy wander off elsewhere in the bar, in search for further lively tales.
