Cardea is free of charge. There is no cost at all for playing Cardea
beyond those normally incurred for using the Internet.
There is an option to pay for some enhanced features, but this is by no
means necessary as every character has 60 minutes per day with these
benefits. This period will come into effect at 12am GMT each day.
During this time, your account will be treated as a preferred account. In
addition, if you have chosen to purchase credits, they will not tick down
during this time.
At present, there are benefits to having credits, even in this beta test
stage. Those with credits gain lessons (which can be spent training and
learning new skills for your character) significantly faster than those
without credits. Those with credits are slower to forget skills learnt in
previous careers. Also some people may find it useful to SLEEPLEARN (type
SLEEPLEARN HELP for information), in order to advance their character
whilst not online; this service is only available to character accounts
with credits.
Once that 60 minutes is complete, credits will tick down at the rate of
one credit per hour. Credits can be purchased either via cheque or by
using our secure website using a variety of cards including American
Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club and Switch (details of all cards
accepted are on the web site). Details of how to do this follow at the end
of this file.
When your credits have expired, you can continue to enjoy Cardea free of
charge without the added value or you can type CREDBUY to borrow some
credits from Cardea. This will give you 48 hours to pay the amount due to
Cardea. Your character will be suspended pending payment if any monies
owing is not received in this time. You can see your credit status by type
STATUS or CREDITS. It is possible to manage your credit usage with the
CREDUSE command (Type CREDUSE HELP for more information).
Depending on the amount of credits you purchase, credit prices vary.
