Submissions & Ideas

Submissions & Ideas

We like to feel that the players who inhabit Cardea are part of its constant expansion and progression. This is evident in play with the many ways that a player can use the tools that Cardea provides, but it is also true with the very design of those tools.

If you have an idea, or want to be part of Cardeas expansion, then you'll find out how to go about it here.

Ideas

If you have an idea that can be quickly and easily expressed, then the best way of doing this is to use the IDEA command. The idea log is regularly reviewed and many of the thoughts we've had have been implemented in one way or another.

If you have a more complex idea, you can use the Skill Submissions page on the website to detail new abilities you have thought of, or you can send an email to ashalon@cardea-rpg.com

NB. Not all ideas are used, and often the ones that are used are altered to fit with other systems and concepts, either already in effect or in planning.

Coders

We are always seeking volunteer programmers to assist in coding for Cardea. We require demonstratable ability in C++ and knowledge of Linux is an advantage. Previous MUD coding experience is not required, but is preferred. For more information, you should email Tarkun@cardea-rpg.com and visit our vacancies page.

Developers

The developers are Cardeas 'think-tank', this is where the coders, designers and authors get the lowdown on the latest player thinking. They also provide beta testing for new ideas, and sounding boards for concepts under consideration. If you'd like to become a developer then there are two paths open.

First of all, when a vacancy arises, you can apply for it. Such applications are judged on ability, reputation and experience. Secondly, and more usually, players who show ability, integrity and interest may be invited to join the developers.

Only a certain number of developers are required at any given time, and there is a downside to being one. Developers have a measure of inside knowledge that often causes them to be excluded from certain elements of play.

Authors

Authors are normally also members of the development team, and are those people who write the rooms, objects and quests that you will find in play. This is achieved by use of the dynamic, online authoring suite that lies at the heart of Cardea.
